A textile artist who translates her treadle- stitched drawings into delicate latticeworks made to cast shadows within their frames.
SarahB has recent developed her free-stitched embroideries that are minus any fabric support. They garner delight and surprise in enthusiasts who see her work for the first time, and thereafter. Sarah’s unique flat-pack dressforms will also be shown during the Fair.

A Falmouth Terrace :
A treadle-stitched appliquéd latticework of neighbouring homes suspended in a box frame so their shadows bring another dimension to this unusual textile.

Best Friends :
A free-treadle-stitched latticework of a tower of dogs. There is no cloth in this piece which looks its best when viewed in strong ligh as the space within the box frame allows shadows to be cast.

Delphinium :
A free-treadle-stitched appliquéd latticework of a stylised bloom in shades of blue. This example of stitched-shadow-art forms part of a series including all colours in the spectrum. All the natural-fibre cloth in each piece is either recycled or repurposed.

The Pillar Box :
A monotone free-treadle-stitched latticework of homes on a high street in a Devon village. Tricks played with thread and light give a playful edge to this work which in places appears to defy the laws of stitched structures. It comes mounted in a box frame and no cloth forms part of the piece.
