About Us

Brighton Art Fair is run by artist Sarah Young and organiser Jon Tutton, they also organise MADE12 - Brighton's Design and Craft Fair, MADE LONDON and the Palace Art Fair at Fulham Palace.

Brighton Art Fair is now 9 years old and is firmly established as a major annual event in the arts calendar of the South East. It is the largest art exhibition on the South Coast and brings together about 130 of the most talented national painters, printmakers, photographers and sculptors along with artist groups and Sussex based galleries.

Around 5000 visitors visit Brighton Art Fair each year. Many of the visitors enjoy talking and buying directly from the artists themselves, learning more about their artwork, techniques and interests. Every visitor receives a catalogue detailing the exhibitors at the fair which we hope encourages buyers to contact artists after the event to buy or commission work and establish a longer term on-going relationship.

Sales of artwork have been healthy for exhibiting artists. BAF also directly targets art buyers, collectors, gallery owners, arts commissioners and exhibition curators and many artists have been taken up by galleries throughout England due to contacts made at the fair. 

Design and Craft 

2006 saw the launch of the Brighton Craft Fair featuring the best makers and designers in the country. In 2008 Brighton Craft Fair became MADE 08 - Brighton's Design and Craft Fair to reflect the cutting edge design skills of many of our present makers and to attract other designers.

Palace Art Fair

In 2010 we launched a new event in London at Fulham Palace - the Palace Art Fair.

We organised this event to build on what people like about Brighton Art Fair, in terms of quality, size and friendliness, transferred to a new venue. For  2013 the show becomes The Palace Art and Craft Fair with a change of date to May 2013.

The Team

Jon Tutton and Sarah Young

are co-founders and directors of the fair.

Jon is the main organiser and head honcho, risk-taker and forward thinker. Most of his time is spent in one way or another on the fairs.

Sarah is head of selection, placement and does most of the graphics for the shows. She also exhibits as she has been a maker a lot longer than an event organiser. (So that she can continue to make, she sticks to the above mentioned jobs and may well come over as pretty clueless if asked about anything else!)

Chris

Chris has been head of a team of helpers that varies from event to event, but among the stalwarts are Al, Luke, Stephen, Cat (Chris's wife), Lucy, Mark, Sarah ( Jon's lovely niece), and Gav. Chris has been helping right from the start since he was 19, and is also Jon's lovely nephew. They do everything to help in the smooth running and friendly atmosphere of the fairs from loading and unloading for the exhibitors, to manning the credit cards, filling the goody bags and pouring the wine!
